Community Events

Home Depot hosts a free kids workshop on the first Saturday of every month from 9 to noon. Each child can bring home a newly constructed project, a kid’s apron, achievement pin, and a certificate while supplies last. Register your child at www.homedepot.com/workshops. Get there early to make sure your child receives a kit.

DAV transportation is now available to the VA Hospital at 6900 Pecos in North Las Vegas. Rides available Monday through Friday for appointments 8 AM to 4 PM. Call 702-423-4885 to schedule your ride.

Pahrump Gunfighters are looking for new members they meet the first Saturday of the month at the Library at 10 AM. For more information call 775-751-3458.

The private well owners association hosts free classes the first Wednesday of every month at 10 AM at the Pahrump Museum on Basin Avenue.

Nye County is now recruiting Emergency Medical Techs and other volunteers opportunities. No previous experience is necessary and training is provided. For more information call 775-764-1626.

BLM has ordered a fire prevention order that started May 1 through October 31, 2024. The order prohibits specific fire-related activities on all BLM managed land in Nevada. 

Pahrump Valley Fire & Rescue is placing a burn moratorium starting May 15 until November 1, 2024.

Pahrump Community Pool opens Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day. Starting May 27th adult swim will be 7 AM to 11 AM with open swim from noon to 6 PM. Fees: Family passes $35, General Admission 50 cents, Single Passes $20, Swim Lessons $30, Additional Student $20

Pahrump Community Church’s food pantry is open on Monday, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30

Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church is now open on Mondays from 9 to 11 and Tuesdays from 4 to 6 PM. You may attend either day one time per week.

Knit Wits meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 1 to 3 at Faith Fellowship Church at 2190 N Blagg Rd. Free lessons in knitting, crocheting and looming led by Laura Leiker.

    • Now til July 26th: Is Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters
    • National Adoption Event. Nye County Animal Shelter is participating .
      Adoption fees are $20 and all pets are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The Shelter is located at 1580 E Siri Lane open Monday – Friday 10 to 5.

    • July 27th: Pahrump Back to School Fair from 8 to 11 at the PV High School. Offering free sports physicals, Free Dental exams and tooth sealants, backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last), car seats (while supplies last). Students are required to be at the event to receive products and services. A parent or legal guardian must be present for physicals and screenings.

    • July 27th: is VEA’s 19th Annual Fill The Bucket Truck with School Supplies event from 9 to 1. Drop off locations are Albertson’s, Smith’s and WalMart. You can also drop off supplies at VEA’s Main Office prior to the 27th.

    • July 30th: Saitta Tredeau in conjunction with the Pahrump Valley Lions Club is hosting FREE eye exams at the dealership from 3 to 7. All ages are welcome to get their eyes checked for Free.

    • August 7th: Is the Purple Heart Day Ceremony begins at 6 PM at the Veteran’s Memorial located inside the Chief Tacopa Cemetery.
    • August 27th: Great Basin College is hosting a FREE Career Fair from noon to 2. Everyone is invited to this event.
